Deia

Little Deia is situated just a few kms from the sea nestled on the hillside in a small dent in the Puig de Teix mountain (1062m), on Majorcas north west facing coast. The village gained independence from Valldemossa in 1583 and there are now some 850 people living in the municipality. Deia is derived from the Islamic ad Daia which means hamlet.
